On holiday I am overcome by words and stupidity. The hustle and bustle of rushing around is not good for me. Today I wrecked the car. Of course I feel badly. Icy driveway.  Dang it.

But it is all done. Slowly I am withdrawing from the "Mama Fixes Stuff" mode and it has taken decades. Why do mothers think they should do it all? What crap is that? What makes us so defensive and so nutty as to think we can work against fate, lucky and karma to make it all wonderful for our children or grandchildren? It must me an ancient DNA link from when our young died from an infected tooth or some malady that made no sense.

Lots of stuff still makes no sense. Why does it have to? Nothing makes sense. My motto is Keep Calm and Keep Walking. I hope that works for 2012 as it has not worked for this December.

Anyway, fight on as best you can, take fun where you can and love when you can. Happy Happy and Merry Merry to each and every one of you. Critters too.

I am going to write about WRITING as I know and as some of you have asked how it is that I write so much.

at eight years old in Montana

I get up, read my emails, answer emails and work on rewrites until noon. Then in the afternoon and evening I write except for appointments and dinner. I have more stories than I could ever share. They just keep coming with their own characters and events.  I often have vivid dreams and also a similar imagination so as long as you keep reading I will have a purpose to my life. If in some way I can express how a feeling or a crises can affect a person I can find a story to write. I like mysteries and thrillers the best but I mostly just let the stories roll on out of my mind. 

This is my new niece, Ellie in her rose gown. You know you love her, don't you?

Political Slash: Well I went to see The Ides of March with George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Paul Giamantti. If you hate politicians this is a close look at hard ball, legal style.

If you want to see George, he is still pretty. If you want danger and crazy go for Ryan! It has a simple plot and a complicated ending. Sort of like the recent Republican Debates. My Post from Facebook:

A Soft-boiled Detective Story

I had plenty to do. Like think about bad bets. And doodle on a pad, making those golden arches and spinning buckets. A knock at door made me jump. A dame walks through the door, mostly legs. Real gams, and, boy, are they ever. Her strappy, spike heels clicked as she danced through my crummy office door.

Dog Splash: When you have two dogs for two people it is mighty unfair when one person gets both dog in his lap. Any advice for me?  I want at least one of the dogs next to me. I am lovable and good to both dogs.
